Michael De Luca - 2013 Honoree
A native of New York and former production chief for DreamWorks and New Line Cinema, De Luca founded Michael De Luca Productions in 2004 and has a development and production agreement with Columbia Pictures. Prior to forming Michael De Luca Productions, De Luca served as DreamWorks‘ Head of Production. During his previous tenure as President and COO of New Line Productions, he created the highly successful Friday, Blade, Austin Powers and Rush Hour franchises, and launched the directing careers of Jay Roach, Brett Ratner, Gary Ross, Alan and Albert Hughes, F. Gray, the Farrelly brothers, and Paul Thomas Anderson. De Luca continues to focus on developing provocative specialized films with visionary filmmakers, as well as pop culture,mainstream genre films with franchise potential. His projects for Columbia have included David Fincher’s Academy Award winning drama The Social Network, and the Oscar nominated Moneyball starring Brad Pitt. He is currently in post production for the studio on the Tom Hanks starrer Captain Phillips.
Lorenzo Di Bonaventura - 2012 Honoree
Lorenzo di Bonaventura began his professional life operating a river-rafting company before turning his focus on the entertainment industry. He first joined Columbia Pictures before he became an executive at Warner Bros. where he was involved in over 130 productions as he rose to the position of President of Worldwide Production. In 2003, Mr. di Bonaventura formed a production company based at Paramount Pictures. Since its inception, the company has produced 16 movies, including thehighly successful Transformers franchise. Mr. di Bonaventura earned his undergraduate degree at Harvard and later received his MBA at the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business.
Bryan Lourd - 2011 Honoree
A native of Louisiana, and a graduate of USC with degrees in Journalism and International Relations, Bryan began his career as a page at CBS Studios.In 1983 he joined the William Morris Agency where he worked his way from the mailroom program
to talent agent. He has been a partner and Managing Director of CAA since 1995 and became a director of InterActiveCorp in 2005. Lourd is a member of the President’s Committee on the Arts and Humanities, an American Film Institute trustee, and a board member of the J/P Haitian Relief Organization.
Amy Pascal - 2010 Honoree
Amy Pascal is Co-Chairman of Sony Pictures, and together with Michael Lynton, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, they are responsible for overseeing all lines of business for the studio, including motion pictures (Columbia Pictures, Screen Gems, Sony Pictures Classics, Sony Pictures Animation and TriStar Pictures), worldwide television production and distribution, home entertainment, and digital productions (Imageworks and Sony Pictures Animation). Sony Pictures Entertainment is only one of two studios to generate more than $1 billion in domestic box office sales for each of the past eleven years. Since 2000 and under Pascal's leadership, Sony Pictures has had 89 movies hit #1 at the domestic box office, more than any other studio.
Escape Artists: Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal, Steve Tisch - 2009 Honorees
Escape Artists is an independently financed motion picture and television production company with a first look non-exclusive deal at Sony Pictures Entertainment, headed by partners Steve Tisch, Todd Black and Jason Blumenthal. In 2001, Todd Black and Jason Blumenthal’s Black & Blu merged with the Steve Tisch Company to form Escape Artists.The first produced movie under the Escape Artists banner was A Knight's Tale, starring Heath Ledger in 2001. In the fall of 2005, Escape Artists released The Weather Man, directed by Gore Verbinski and starring Nicolas Cage and Michael Caine. Their next film, The Pursuit of Happyness, directed by Gabriele Muccino and starring Will Smith, was released in December 2006 and earned over $300 million in worldwide ticket sales, as well as best actor Academy Award and Golden Globe nominations for Will Smith. Seven Pounds, another Gabriele Muccino-directed film starring Will Smith, was released in December 2008. In 2009, Escape Artists released the Alex Proyas thriller Knowing, starring Nicolas Cage, and The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3, directed by Tony Scott and starring Denzel Washington and John Travolta. Their latest project entitled, The Back-Up Plan, directed by Alan Poul and starring Jennifer Lopez, was released through CBS Films in April 2010.
