Camp Coelho

Camp Coelho is a 5-night, 6-day adventure in Yosemite open to children ages 12-15 years with a primary, single diagnosis of epilepsy and well controlled seizures. The camp is staffed by the camp's doctors/nurses, and some Epilepsy Foundation staff and volunteers will participate as counselors and will help train other camp staff in seizure first aid. Activities include horseback riding, swimming, archery, ropes course, climbing wall, hikes and arts and crafts and more. Camp Coelho is a great place to develop self-confidence and independence. The cost is $750 and limited partial scholarships are available. More information is available upon request. 

 

 

Family Retreat at Camp Tumbleweed

This one-day Family Retreat will be held in a beautiful campground nestled in the foothills of the Santa Monica mountains. Families of children, teens and adults with epilepsy are welcome. Camp type activities will suit all ages and various skill and interest groups - arts/crafts, challenge courses, archery, games, field sports, swimming, hikes, seminars, groups, teen social, adults social, and a closing campfire talent show. Meet other families and people your age who understand. Nominal fee. Partial scholarships available.

 

 

Overnight at the Aquarium of the Pacific

This summer we partner with the Aquarium to offer this special activity -- an overnight experience near the big Aquarium -- for our Shining Stars (children with epilepsy) and a guest (parent or sibling). The Aquarium houses 11,000 animals in 50 exhibits and offers educational programs and hands-on activities. A fee applies. Limited partial scholarships available. Space limited so apply early. Texas Children's Hospital pioneers the use of MRI-guided lasers - a new option for some with epilepsy caused by lesions.
